Information on Google Apps for Business?

I really want to have company wide calenders and contacts that sync with our phones etc. I was thinking about an in-house server, but with some employees working in a separate office it would probably be a really slow connection. Write not were using remote access and have outlook. Can I keep my outlook email addresses if we go with Google apps? What would be the pros and cons to having this product for me?
