Employment termination law help?

Okay my situation is complicated i currently live in miami and what happened is that i got fired by my manager the same day i called in to say i could not go to work due to my boyfriend grandmothers passing away. this was on a monday. The weird thing is that she decided to fire me two days after my best friend quit. the manager is aware that we are good friends and i feel she did this in retaliation. I never did anything wrong nor received any warnings. On top of that the owner of the place thinks that I quit when in reality the manager fired me. did she do anything illegal?
