Has Lewis Hamilton's "Is it because I is black" comment damaged his credibility beyond repair?

F1 pulls in billions in sponsorhip for the sport, the officials and associated team staff from techs to cooks have a life few of us could imagine and Hamilton throws the race card. I cannot imagine for a second that F1 would be in any way racist.
